Coral Sea Foundation

2019 – ongoing

The Coral Sea Foundation works across the Great Barrier Reef, the Coral Sea and Papua New Guinea to support practical, community-based marine conservation. Combining marine science, expedition capability and visual storytelling, the Foundation partners with First Nations custodians and coastal communities to strengthen reef monitoring, support the development of marine reserves, and build long-term local leadership.

A major focus of this work is the Sea Women partnership model in Australia and PNG, which equips Indigenous women with the skills to lead reef surveys, marine conservation training and community engagement in their own sea country. Through this approach, the Coral Sea Foundation is helping deliver pragmatic conservation outcomes that protect biodiversity, strengthen local stewardship and improve the resilience of coral reef communities.
