Roger Swainston
Roger Swainston is a zoologist and world-renowned artist with over 35 years of experience working with fishes and other marine life.
During this time he has collaborated with various scientific institutions, environmental agencies, conservation organisations, fisheries regulators and commercial fishers around the world.
Roger has taken part in biodiversity surveys of some of the most remote and undisturbed marine environments on the planet. He has illustrated numerous guides to fishes and is the author of "Swainston's Fishes of Australia”, a comprehensive guide to all known fishes in Australian waters. Roger was a pioneer of methods of drawing underwater and has created large drawings and paintings of coral reefs from around the world. Here in Western Australia, Roger has used photomosaics to monitor five sites on Ningaloo Reef every year since 2001.
Roger has had many solo exhibitions of his work and contributed to many others and was recently honoured by having his large painting of Ningaloo Reef reproduced on permanent display at the WA Museum Boola Bardip. Find out more about Roger’s work at animafish.com and rogerswainston.com
