Dr Charlotte Birkmanis

Charlotte is a Max Planck Centre Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a wildlife science communicator.

Described as the ‘PR Manager’ for sharks and our oceans, her research interests lay in shark movement and behaviour, how predator removal impacts ecosystems and the real-world implications of how the media portrays sharks and other predators.

Recognised as a ‘Superstar of STEM’ and ‘STEM Ambassador’ with Science and Technology Australia, Charlotte makes wildlife science available to everyone through films, talks, books, podcasts and radio shows, ensuring we can co-exist with wildlife, especially sharks. Charlotte is also the Coordinator for WA World Ocean Day.
